Tristan Eckerson To Release New Album ‘Decades’

Living as a relative nomad in North America, Eckerson’s life, musical and otherwise, has been spread across the world. After leaving his hometown of Cincinnati to pursue his musical career, the aspiring musician settled in Charleston, South Carolina, San Sebastian, Spain, San Francisco, California, Seattle, Washington, and Asheville; performing and recording with the likes of the Ray Charles Orchestra and writing string arrangements for the Magik Magik Orchestra. The following years of 2016 and 2017 saw two full length solo piano albums released under Nils Frahm’s esteemed Contemporary Classical label 1631 Recordings. As a self-promoter and producer, Eckerson targeted the United States, Canada, and Europe in the hope his soothing granular arrangements would grace the ears of new fans.

Though the previous releases are undoubted masterpieces, the release of Dream Variations in 2018 gained the most traction, with Eckerson eventually signing to composer Benson Taylor’s record label A Remarkable Idea, alongside the likes of Anoushka Shankar, Maximo Park, and Bloc Party. His debut release under the label dropped in the spring of 2019, receiving over six million streams on Spotify and pushing his artistic stature into new realms.

Whilst writing original music for multiple award winning films, commercials, and animation projects, Tristan continues to churn out exquisite compositions on a regular basis, most recently in the winter of 2019 with another album in the form of Trozo Revisited. Subsequently heralded as a masterful body of work, the streaming figures on Spotify have almost reached four million in less than four months, cementing his place as one of a few very commercially viable classical artists.

Drawing comparisons to some Thomas Newmans cinematic accompaniments, from rainy day music to relaxing sun-kissed sonics, the lack of vocal accompaniment means Eckerson’s portfolio remains perfectly ambiguous and full of rich emotion. Showing no signs of slowing down, the virtuoso has plans to self release a brand new full length album of piano compositions entitled Decades on February 7th, 2020, prepare yourselves for more bountiful melodies.
