Born beneath the city lights of Manhattan, Baba Ali isn’t bound to a certain genre, instead his eclectic combination of R&B, retro-soul, funk, and electronica reflect a diverse and vibrant soundscape that refuses to be categorised.

After releasing his first single ‘Not Loving You’ in early 2017, the now South-London based artist has embarked on a vigorous line of shows around the capital and beyond, the highlight being a nationwide tour supporting Shye Ben Tzur and Johnny Greenwood’s Junun project in collaboration with the Rajasthan Express. A European show supporting Nick Hakim in Paris followed gigs at The Montague Arms, The NINES and Thewaitingroom, before unleashing his debut EP ‘Nomad’. With the second placed track ‘cog in the wheel’ now at 1.3 million plays on Spotify, Baba’s quest across the ocean to seek new influences could be summarised as profoundly successful, as well as his willingness to collaborate in different styles; working with artists such as Gold Panda, Kele Okereke, Shigeto, and Open Mike Eagle.
