We take a look back at our favourite releases from the penultimate month in the year. This month features genres such as Tech House and Minimal Tech from the best underground and up-and-coming artists within dance music.
Franco Schmidt – Panic EP (Cuebd Records):
Franco Schmidt’s 3 track EP was inundated with deep basslines and skippy percussion. The A side – Panic – features a soulful vocal with an exciting bassline which rumbles underneath a tight sounding drum groove. Motivated stays on the minimal theme whilst Stayin’ has more of a classic house feel to it. A solid and groovy EP.
Fritz Kalkbrenner – Last Call (Alderman Edit) (Grass Route Records):
Birmingham based Alderman flips a retro dance record by Berlin producer Fritz Kalkbrenner. Adding more of an orthodox house groove, he utilises the sounds of the sample effectively to create a mainroom edit.
Project 37 – Telephonica (Data Transmission Boost Weapons):
Also from Birmingham are Project 37, who’s single “Telephonica” is being released on Friday. Stomping grooves, skippy percussion and a heavy bassline complement a phone’s voicemail message. This track is hard-hitting and makes you want to dance.
AllDis – Feeling Low EP (Grass Route Records):
AllDis releases his 2 track EP which has just reached number 1 in the Tech House charts on Beatport. With bouncing bass lines and deep synth sounds, his EP is a blend of a more minimal track in “Feeling Good” and a groovy Tech House record with the A-side “Feeling Low”. This high-energy release marks AllDis’ first number one on Beatport.
